Last weekend, Team Tennessee participated in a 2-day training camp in preparation for their June trip to Orlando for the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games!
It was a busy two days at Camp Widjiwagan in Nashville for our athletes, Unified partners, coaches and additional support staff. The agenda included team and sport bonding time, camp activities, health screenings, several communal meals, a banquet and dinner program, equipment fitting, a photo shoot, team practice time, and more!
Because of training camp, Team TN athletes and Unified partners know more of what to expect in Orlando, Team TN coaches learned about their team members and could give hands-on training tips, and everyone is EVEN MORE excited for USA Games.
Swim coach Brenda Vroon said, "we had a great time together! Each of our swimmers now has a buddy on the team, and we have an action plan for training going forward. We also had plenty of time to practice our team cheers!"
Golf athlete Matthew Drumright said, "camp was so fun! My favorite part was being with my golf teammates and coaches." Matthew and other Team TN athletes left camp with a call to action that includes walking daily, staying hydrated, and training hard.
Training camp has set Team Tennessee up for success in Orlando.
Thanks to our 2022 Training Camp sponsor, LifePoint Health, for making this event possible. Team Tennessee, we'll see you in Orlando!
