The Special Olympics for Athlete Leadership Curriculum provides useful, practical techniques and tools that help athlete leaders to use their voices to be inclusive, strategic, and effective in making positive change and drive the Special Olympics movement towards our global vision.
The curriculum includes topics on leadership, governance, volunteerism, and technology. Athletes completing the Athlete Leadership courses will be educated in an array of topics that directly relate to their lives and their interests and benefit them physically, mentally, and socially.
Special Olympics Athlete Leadership Program also empowers athletes to explore opportunities to enhance and expand their participation as:
- Coaches
- Officials
- Spokespeople
- Board members
- Committee members
- Volunteers
- Fundraisers
Leadership opportunities in which athletes can serve are available as members of
- Athlete Input Councils
