The Middle Tennessee Basketball Regionals were played at Ensworth High School over the weekend where teams from all across Middle Tennessee faced up in the lead-up event to the State Tournament. In one Unified match-up, the Rockstars of Rutherford County took on Jeffrey and the Gang of Cheatham County. Both teams had strong starts with Jeffrey and the Gang scoring first. The score was back and forth throughout the entire first half. The teams exchanged baskets throughout the entire first half.

At half time, the score was 13-9 Rockstars.

Athlete Isaiah Holman had family come in from across the state to watch him compete for the Rockstars.

“It was very competitive today," said Holman regarding the tight match-up.

The second half started quickly with both teams netting baskets early. Both of the teams were neck and neck throughout the entirety of the game. Ultimately, they tied 18-18, but both Jeffrey and the Gang and the Rockstars played an amazing game.

Since the Regionals are a warm-up for the State Tournament, ties were allowed as it's a great way to get athletes and Unified Partners prepared for the big tournament next weekend, where they'll play for medals

“It was awesome to see everyone smiling and falling in love with basketball," said Unified Partner Micah Singley.

Even though the game ended up in a tie, it was all about the experience.

“I am very grateful for the experience and blessed,” said Assistant Coach Zach for the Rockstars.

The Special Olympics Tennessee State Basketball Tournament takes place March 8 & 9 at Lipscomb University.
