The 2024 Music City Corporate Challenge, presented by Lifepoint Health, started on Tuesday night as teams from Alliance Bernstein, Lee Company and UBS faced off on the court at Lipscomb University. Following a series of intense, fast-paced dodgeball games that drew some of the most spirited players across Nashville, competitors from financial services company UBS emerged victorious.
One of their star athletes, Ben Heiland, spoke about his experience with the Music City Corporate Challenge and why it holds a special place in his heart.
Heiland, who has worked at UBS for over three years and boasts participation in the Corporate Challenge for most of his time there, applauded the sportsmanship, honesty and positive energy he saw in his fellow competitors.
“It means everything…to be able to support such a great organization through the place I work for, to get to see communities that people don’t always see and to be there for them and be an ally, said Heiland. "I think it’s very important, and we’re grateful to do it.”
Leaning on the universal exhilaration of competitive sport, the evening transformed these corporate professionals by day into their inner athletes by night, with not a dull moment amid the crowd’s constant cheers and applause.
Before signing off, Heiland emphasized the importance of community service, especially for corporations that are well-equipped with financial resources and a desire to give back to their communities.
“It's an opportunity for people to have fun, grow together, and build community and partners that foster diversity, inclusion and strength together, said Heiland.”
