Another exciting night of competition occurred at SandBar for the Music City Corporate Challenge presented by Lifepoint Health, where companies went head to head in an intense sand volleyball tournament. This event allowed members of different corporations to get outside and experience the joy that comes with fun and friendly competition while being able to support and fundraise for their community. Out of the Division 1 teams, AllianceBernstein earned an undefeated first-place victory, continuing their winning volleyball streak from last year’s Corporate Challenge.
A veteran competitor at the Music City Corporate Challenge, Kerrick Podgorski shared some of his motivations and mindsets when it comes to supporting organizations like Special Olympics and returning to community events such as these.
“I think it’s important to give back to your community because you want to put others before yourself," said Podgorski. "It’s the faithful thing to do, and you wanna treat your neighbor…your community, and everyone you’re surrounded with as yourself.”
This selfless behavior applies to all community members since empowering others will benefit them and can be a rewarding experience in and of itself. Other corporations can expand on this support, too, and Podgorski urged everyone to become a more active community member in some way.
”You know, it's a great opportunity to build some camaraderie amongst all the fellow associates and get out of the office…..also giving back to a good cause," said Podgorski.
A big thank you to Sandbar Nashville for hosting and to all the companies who came out to support Special Olympics Tennessee! Learn more about the upcoming dates and competitions for the Music City Corporate Challenge here.
