****Thanks to all the participants and volunteers who made our Bowl for the Gold (April 27th 2010) event a fantastic night. Everyone had a great time bowling for Special Olympics and raising awareness to eliminate the R-Word. 65 participants took the pledge to eliminate the R-Word and did their best to "Strike it Out" all night long.
This fundraising event is an opportunity for all ages to show their support for Special Olympics. You can register as an individual or gather friends, family members or co-workers together and register a team. Incentive prizes will be available and prizes will be awarded for Top Individual Fundraiser, Top Fundraising Team, Highest Individual Score, Highest Team Score, Best Team Costume and Best Individual Costume. Each participant must raise a minimum $25.

It's easy to participate! Just follow these 3 steps:
Step 1: You need to register online or complete the registration form in the brochure and mail to Special Olympics Tennessee.
Step 2: Begin collecting donations to support your plunge. Use the donation form in the brochure or create a Personal Online Fundraising page. Each bowler must raise a minimum $25 to participate.
Step 3: Bring all collected donations to the event on April 27th. Online fundraising totals will be available at registration.
Let’s Spread the Word to End the Word™ and build awareness for society to stop and think about its’ use of the R-word. The R-word is hurtful and demeaning to millions of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and friends. Help us change the conversation and eliminate theuse of the R-word from today’s speech.
Bowl For The Gold and “Strike Out the R-word”!
Bowl For The Gold is helping to bring awareness to this campaign through a prize-granting bowling contest! Be on the look-out for special red, R-word pins - these pins will be randomly placed among the lanes and will appear periodically as the head pin in the pin arrangement. Make a STRIKE when this pin appears and the bowler will win a prizes because they have STRUCK out the R-word!!
