Special Olympics Basketball continues to grow as a sport in the state of Tennessee. Over 100 teams compete each year in either a local, regional or state competition.  All three state sanctioned events are played as 5v5 full court games, however, some local programs may offer other formats such as 3v3 or a skills competition.  Any athletes interested in joining a team should first contact their area director

In addition to any local events, Special Olympics Tennessee offers athletes the chance to compete in three state sanctioned events:

2015 Basketball Schedule
TBA -  East TN Regional at Maryville College
March 7 - Middle TN Regional at Ensworth High School
March 13-14 - State Tournament at Lipscomb University

State Tournament Information
The 2015 State Basketball Tournament will be held March 13th and 14th at  Lipscomb University. Typically, over 40 teams compete in both Traditional and Unified for this two day tournament.  The event begins Friday afternoon with the Opening Ceremonies at Lipscomb's Allen Arena.  This is followed by screening games and then competition Friday Night.  Games begin early on Saturday morning and last all day Saturday. 

*NOTE: Unified Compeition will no longer be held at Lipscomb High School. All games, both Traditional and Unified will be at Lipscomb University.

Middle TN Regional Basketball
The 2015 Middle TN Regional Tournament will be held Saturday, March 7th at Ensworth High School. This is a one day tournament in which both unified and traditional teams compete.
